Today the traveling sheep marks it’s 1st year from it’s inception. Although I have been in a hiatus since I went back to school last fall, I would like to take this quick moment to shout out and celebrate!!
Torrance, Ca: Visiting Great Friends
My friends have coined me a “seminar junkie” and my visit to Torrance is actually for a weekend seminar in San Pedro, Ca. My good friend Maiko was very kind to let me crash at her place.
My friends know I’m such a foodie so what I really looked forward to this trip was our dinner together and just hanging out with them. By chance, my cousin May was visiting LA from the Philippines that weekend. Haven’t seen her since 2009. So I picked her up in Glendale after my Saturday seminar and JP also came up to join us for dinner. We went to Sanuki no Sato again coz we really enjoyed our dinner there last time.
Nutschell and I ordered the Ladies special course this time, which is the Izakaya-style 10-course meal. JP had his usual Edamame. If I remember it correctly, Maiko ordered the Pork cutlet and Lena got the Unagi meal. My cousin May ordered Korean style bbq short ribs and broiled Mackerel. I didn’t get to take photos of the food this time but what I do remember is the hot soup that spilled on me and gave me a slight burn on my bum! I was sitting on ice cubes most of the night after that!
When I got back to Maiko’s house after dropping off my cousin, I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me! My friends Maiko and Nutschell just came back from their England trip and they got me my little sheep doll!
I’ve been looking for one for awhile and this one is just perfect! She’s adorable! Thanks girls!
On my last night, Maiko, Nutschell and Lena took me to a Japanese restaurant called Gaja. They are known to serve really good okonomiyakis. According to Wikipedia, “Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients.” We had to wait awhile to get seated but it was well worth it!
Maiko was in charge of the ordering and cooking. We were there just to enjoy and eat! :p
